The Rats Are Trying to Flee the Ship That They Tried to Sink.

So Bachmann just recently admitted that she has claimed her Swiss citizenship. Normally, this wouldn't be much of an issue but I find it interesting that a former RNC candidate and a member of the House Intelligence Committee as well as an active member of Congress just ostensibly swore an oath of loyalty to a foreign power.

So then I "stumbled" (ok, I actually searched for it) across this thread in Freeperland. Before I clicked the title to lead me to the conversation, I was mostly expecting wide condemnation as well as epitaphs and tirades questioning her loyalty, particularly since she is a T-Party favorite.

Well, far from the vicious attacks known as the S.O.P. of the right-wing, a different theme emerged: it seems that many of them voiced their support for the idea of leaving the US.

Holding citizenship in a peaceful country far from the U.S. may come in handy some day.

Michele is a smart lady. Does her SHTF plan involve Swiss Franks and an Alpine “vaction home”?

Only problem is when the US goes down many other countries will have gone down before it, and those that rise will see to it that there are no peaceful countries, Only Muslim countries , Russia, and China, and a lot of dead infidels.

Or one could apply for citizenship to a country that is further down the craphole than is the US. I am eligible for British Citizenship since I was born there not on a military installation before the law was amended in 1956. I have looked into it but it seems once I declare, I am also eligible for taxation by that country.

Same situation.

After marrying my wife, I became a citizen of Switzerland and of the Canton of Ticino.

Now I have four passports.

1. US
2. Switzerland
3. British National(Overseas)
4. Taiwan

who vilified John Kerry eight years ago over his connections to France.

I suppose in their fantasy world, anything is okay if some raving right-wing lunatic does it.

Does this mean they'll apologize to Kerry?

In this case, Switzerland had automatically granted citizenship to Marcus for some reason (I forget precisely, probably due to family history), and Michele got it automatically by virtue of her marriage to Marcus. So I don't think she applied for it, so much as filed the paperwork to claim it.

My Dad had a bumper sticker when I was a lad which proclaimed "America,Love it or leave it!"
This was a rightwinger memo back in the day but it applies today,i think,to the unpatriotic bunch who think that income equates to sovereign exemption to paying taxes or their bills apparently.
Every year the military costs the taxpayers close to a Trillion dollars to protect who? You? Hah!
The Highway system which brings their foreign made crap from the docks to the big box stores is crumbling under the weight of their semi-tractor fleets, that is okay though, they have private jets.
Rather than spend money on curbing emissions and cutting oil consumption they would rather spend it on think tanks to tell you how crazy you are for believing those, those scientist scumbags.

Where I have to live and on the crumbs they pay me for my time,if I did not pay my taxes or rent then I would be thrown out on the street by the first of the month and have a new room down at the penn soon after, why should they have special exemption from the laws of this land?
Hey Yo! Paying taxes is a right and a privilege,it's not just a code of law it is Your patriotic obligation,if You don't like it,then get the f*ck out!
