...some here would say it's because he can't swim.
Truth.

Some just like to get it right, though. Congratulate him on his waterwalking skills, but point out when he's just playing in the mud, too.

(13,865 posts)it was Jesse Jackson telling the story on himself: Someone's hat blew off in a canoe, he got out and walked over and retrieved it, and the next day the headline was "Jesse Jackson can't swim."

(44,063 posts)Seems like an odd way to spin:
"I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or Marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point Ive just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,"
Obama is pretty clear he didn't arrive to this conclusion on his own. He credits lots of people for showing him the light.

I think knowing would be helpful otherwise these threads just go up in flames.
