Obama Restates Support of Israel in Synagogue Speech

President Obama sought to reassure American Jews that he fully supports the state of Israel while reiterating the need for a two-state solution at a Northwest Washington synagogue on Friday.

“Our commitment to Israel’s security and my commitment to Israel’s security is and always will be unshakable,” Obama said, adding that not doing so would be a “moral failing.”

Obama spoke at the Adas Israel Synagogue on the inaugural “solidarity sabbath,” a holiday meant to consolidate support for Jews amid rising anti-Semitism that falls toward the end of Jewish Heritage Month. On Friday, lawmakers were slated to appear in congregations across the country to mark the day.

In the wake of attack at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a string of anti-Semitic attacks across Europe, there’s been growing attention to the persecution of Jews across the world. Obama noted that the rise of anti-semitism should not be treated as “passing fad.”

US elites will continue to be in the tank for Israel and aggressively indifferent to Palestinian human rights for some time.

Europe and Japan are much more rational about things.

Obama's Israel/Palestine policy has been a spectacular failure. Turns out the Israelis still don't want to be saved from themselves. Palestinians don't care for his jibber-jabber about rights and negotiations when he's going to enable Israel's behavior no matter what.

So, he's living in the past.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/u-s-elections-2012/poll-most-israeli-jews-back-romney-most-israeli-arabs-support-obama-1.472768

The October 2012 results of the Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University’s monthly Peace Index reveal that a clear majority of Jewish Israelis prefer Republican candidate Governor Mitt Romney (57 percent) over incumbent President Barack Obama (22 percent).

http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/israel-news/poll-romney-wins-among-american-israeli-citizens

An exit poll of 1,572 Jews who hold dual American-Israeli citizenship cast their absentee ballots overwhelmingly for Romney — 85 percent to just 14 percent for Obama. The poll, which has a margin of error of 2.5 percent, was conducted Oct. 22-24 and found that the No. 1 issue for voters was Israel and its related issues, such as the status of Jerusalem and Palestinians. Some 61 percent of voters listed it as No. 1.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/07/jewish-voter-exit-polls_n_2084008.html

WASHINGTON -- Exit polls indicate that President Barack Obama received 69 percent of the Jewish vote Tuesday. Partisans have just begun to argue whether that was an overwhelming endorsement or the latest evidence that one of the Democratic Party's most reliable constituencies is becoming less so with every presidential election.

Obama support amongst Israeli Jews: 14-22%
Obama support amongst American Jews: 69%

That's the difference between Democratic Underground posters and Fox News viewers.

American Jews are liberal and open-minded. Obviously not the case with their foreign counterparts, who if they were a US state would be Oklahoma or Alabama, not Vermont.

He supports Israel to the same extent that most American Jews do.

American Jews are among his constituents. What they think of him matters. What Israelis think of him doesn't.

On the other side, we can safely say that at least 50% of Israeli Jews are bigots against anyone who is not a conservative/politically right wing Jew.
