DailyKos - Christiegate: Christie goes on expletive-filled rant in front of large crowd

Christiegate: Christie goes on expletive-filled rant in front of large crowd

Ruh-roh - looks like Christie is cracking. From Talking Points Memo:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) gave a speech on Wednesday full of vulgarities directed at reporters over the George Washington Bridge scandal, New Jersey's finances, and his travel history.

"We don't give a s--- about this or any of you," Christie told a crowd of 350 people at the Hamilton banquet hall on Wednesday, according to Bloomberg Politics. The event was an annual event in New Jersey which features a roast of the sitting New Jersey governor. Elected officials, journalists, and lobbyists attend the event.

The New Jersey governor said one journalist should "open your eyes" and "clean the s--- out of your ears."

"This is a guy who says he doesn't know what I'm doing every day," Christie said of another journalist according to the Bloomberg report. "Then just get the f--- away from me if you don't know what I'm doing."

This looks to me like Christie's way of saying he won't be running for President. Language like that is beneath the dignity of public office.

Obviously he doesn't think diplomacy works and tact frequently escapes him. As if there was any question how unqualified and inappropriste a POTUS ge'd be, this cinches it.

Based on the no holds barred speech last week, poor pole results and the fact NJ people the ones he is supposed to be assisting HATE him I bet words got out Christie is not going to be the chosen one by the repub shot callers. So now Christie has an even more pissed gleam in his eyes blaming Bridgegate and not his miserable tenure as NY Gov and the fact people hate him as the real reason that dog aint hunting.

Also DA Fishman runs a tight ship and I am hoping he has found enough evidence to push Christie off the stage so I don't have to see his selfish mug on the news every day.

Not heard much about Christie being the money collector for the repub govs association. Maybe the repubs want to push him under the bus.

While I'm no fan of this buffoon, this whole story is misleading --which might explain why the source pulled the link -- and was part of his comedy sketch at the New Jersey Legislative Correspondents Club Show, much like what goes on at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Listen to Chris Christie’s Profanity-Laced Performance at Press Dinner

"The opening joke, like most of Christie’s jokes throughout the night, was met with raucous laughter in the audience."

and it was intended to be humorous. However, it was really off color. You likened it to the White House Correspondents Dinner, but I've never heard a president go an an expletive filled rant like this. He called Tom Moran and Paul Mulshine, two writers for the Star-Ledger who have been critical of him "angry drunks". It was really quite mean-spirited and belied some things that have really been bothering him. It was meant to amuse but was quite tasteless. Could you imagine President Obama telling a reporter, even one from Fox News, to "get the shit out of his ears"?

I simply point out the context in which he was speaking and offered a link that gives a more accurate account of the event than implied in the OP.

and I agree with you that the incident was taken out of context. I'm just wanted to make it clear that he was still pretty far afield and wasn't deserving of much consideration.
