most of our resources to it rather than militaries), human collapse, if not complete annihilation is at hand. We need to get out there and at least get life on Mars, or otherwise we're doomed. Everybody in the world needs to form an alliance and do this, or otherwise it may be too late (if it isn't already).

Population is growing at an exponential rate. We're simply going to run out of resources, kill each other, and get reclaimed by the wilds. A few humans may survive, but they will probably become tribal and simple again. Our last great hope is expanding into other worlds.

I think we can do it, but knowing human nature, nobody will want to try until it's too late. We should have already started, but the time to go is now.

is to rid itself of our species. We have become like vermin, what becomes of us will come to pass, there is no escape, in our current physical form, from the fouled biosphere we have created. And I wonder what's so bad about tribal and simple..?

Humans have always been tribal and we prove that we still are every day, what is problematic is that we keep insisting that complexity will save us from ourselves... I think it's quite the opposite.

Just an endless string of Afghanistans, Vietnams, Iraqs, etc., as the various power centers squabble over who controls this or that cheap labor pool/resource.

selling weapons and hiking other prices because WAR!!! against the profits lost because dead people can't buy stuff. Would not be the least bit surprised if there is a think tank with an algorithm addressing that, somewhere.

There will be some escalation, an overreach of some sort, then BOOM!, the U.S. dollar collapses and the existing world financial system goes down for good.

What happens after that is anyone's guess.

Some places held together by force, pressure cookers like Syria and Iraq were, will go up in flames, some will starve, but most places will muddle through, similar to the way Cuba survived after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

In the 'thirties and 'forties it was easy to get oil out of the ground. In the 21st century getting oil of the ground and turning it into fuel is a very delicate process. Those offshore oil platforms and fancy refineries are not going to be producing for long without stable supply chains.

So, not with a global war, just a whimper...
