Weekend Toon Roundup 1:Bankster freedom day

Tuesday May 19th was Bankster Freedom Day, the day after the end of the 90 day period where the AG's office said they would be looking into indicting Banksters. The date passed un-noticed.

When my too-big-to-fail bank hit me with excessive fees (and I had been their customer for over 20 years, including mortgage, checking, savings, credit cards), I closed every account there and walked my money down the street to a credit union.

Never looked back.

I wholeheartedly recommend the same action for everyone who is eligible to join a credit union.

Glad you're here! Credit unions present a VERY viable alternative, seems to me. Wonder what would happen if we ALL did that?

It would send a very powerful message to the greedy bank board members, officers and shareholders, wouldn't it? And fun to watch!

Perhaps it would lead to real reform. But the banks are fighting CUs tooth and nail, especially their non-profit tax status.

While it doesn't address the naked greed and corruption rampant in most banks, it does outline some significant differences between banks and credit unions.

Why Credit Unions Are Running Circles Around Banks
