Flush the TPP!

Stop the Global Corporate Coup!

FlushTheTPP.org is an action campaign to Stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). We invite you to join us. In order to stop the TPP we need to act quickly and in solidarity with people in other countries. This massive trade agreement is a high priority for transnational corporations, and they are working fast to make it law.

The TPP affects many issues, including worker’s rights and wages, environmental collapse and climate change, sovereignty of nations and democratic rule of law, Internet freedom and online creativity, food safety and agriculture, healthcare and financial regulation (including controls over the flow of capital), and much more. For a quick overview of some of the issues, click through the slides on our home page. While this website is focused on action to stop the TPP, if you want to learn more details about what it is, visit the websites to the right, or check out this list of articles.

Many groups have been working to stop the TPP for a long time, including a number of fair trade coalitions, labor and environmental organizations, and others. (Check out the North American Unity Statement, and add your organization to the list of endorsers.) PopularResistance.org joined the movement to oppose the TPP and worked with some of these groups to develop this campaign. FlushTheTPP.org is set up so anyone can get involved.

People now have enough experience with treaties like NAFTA to know that it is bad for the economy, bad for workers and bad for the environment. The only groups helped by these trade agreements are big transnational corporations who get cheap labor, avoid environmental regulations and secure cheap access to resources.

2. Also Bernie Sanders position on the Job-Killing Trade Bill is clear

http://www.sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/sanders-statement-on-senate-vote-on-job-killing-trade-bill

WASHINGTON, May 22 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement tonight after the Senate voted 62-37 for a bill that would grant President Barack Obama accelerated power to complete a massive trade accord with 11 other Pacific Rim nations:

“The Senate just put the interests of powerful multi-national corporations, drug companies and Wall Street ahead of the needs of American workers. If this disastrous trade agreement is approved, it will throw Americans out of work while companies continue moving operations and good-paying jobs to low-wage countries overseas.

“Bad trade deals like the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership are a major reason for the collapse of the American middle class and the increase in wealth and income inequality in the United States. This agreement, like bad trade deals before it, would force American workers to compete with desperate workers around the world – including workers in Vietnam where the minimum wage is 56-cents an hour.

“Trade agreements should not just work for corporate America, Wall Street and the pharmaceutical industry. They have got to benefit the working families of our country,” Sanders said.

or TTIP, or touts/touted the TPP/TTIP is also clear - no vote, no support. The TPP/TTIP does damage to so many issues that it is not anywhere near a "one issue" item.

...you hit the nail on the head. Amazing how anyone can claim this is a good agreement when they don't know crap about the details.

It's mostly supporters of this trade pact here who are blissfully unaware of what's been widely reported on it's contents; preferring instead to cite their 'trust' of President Obama that all's well. Since (they) can't debate anything beyond (their) faith in the president that this is a good agreement I'll stick to your hilarity regarding it's secrecy...

here's the former Governor at the Redlands High School in a forum with Atlantic Monthly correspondent James Fallows, speaking to Phill Courtney, Guest columnist at Redlands Daily Facts:

“So then,” I said, “you’re committed to being against the TPP?”

“I’m totally against the TPP.”

“Really?”

“I’m fundamentally opposed to anything we’re not allowed to read,” he said. “I think that’s un-American.”

I'm just making fun of the "it's secret" BS. It's just an excuse for those too lazy to inform themselves (but who have plenty of time to post opinions).
