Romney: Gay Couples Should Be Able To Adopt, But Not Marry

On Fox News Thursday, Mitt Romney restated his view that same-sex couples should not be allowed to marry, but should be allowed to raise children together.

“I happen to believe that the best setting for raising a child is where this is the opportunity to a mom and a dad to be in the home. There are many circumstances where that is not possible. Through death. Divorce,” he said. “I know many gay couples are able to adopt children. That is fine. But my preference is we encourage the marriage of a man and a woman and we continue to define marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman.”

What an idiotic statement. Raising a child is far more of a commitment than reciting some vows in front of a guy in a robe. If you're gonna allow gay couples to formally adopt a kid then you goddamn better allow them to at least make a public acknowledgment that they will stay together to raise that kid.

As far as I'm concerned he's just more or less hinted that he is indeed in favor of same sex marriage, he just doesn't have the cojones to come out and say so. But then who in their right mind expects to see him show any cojones at all?
