Australian footballer becomes first man in history to be sent off for tackling a giant BBQ sauce bottle
Brian Griffiths dismissed for horror tackle on living condiment




Playing in a testimonial for the retiring Central Coast Mariners player John Hutchinson, Griffiths committed the violent act while the sauce was clean through on goal.

Chasing the human condiment down in a bid to prevent conceding another goal in the eventual 12-5 victory for Hutch's XI, Stoke born Griffiths lunged from behind, taking his victim out of the game in the process.

Rightfully dismissed for the foul, Griffiths left the pitch unaware that video footage of the incident would be shared around the world and tarnish his career.

Questions over the referee's decision to allow the sauce to take part in the game in the first place have been asked by conspiracy theorists, forgetting that at a testimonial you're allowed to do whatever you want. Except slide tackle a delicious meal accompaniment.
