My wife's family learned her uncle was dead days after the celebrations of Victory Europe.

He's reburied at Arlington, first buried in France.

One of my grandfathers was a pacifist in World War II. They gave him a choice, prison or building Liberty and Victory ships. He was a welder, didn't want to go to prison, so he built ships.

My other grandfather wanted to fly. The Army Air Force decided his talents were too great to risk like that. He never talked about the war. His pride was his engineering work on the Apollo Project, landing men on the moon.

We come in peace.

That's my Memorial Day.
