Forgive me...I may be wrong about this, but

I always thought that Mormons were supposed to be really nice, accepting, loving people who made great public service announcements. I knew that they couldn't have any booze or caffeine, but could marry as many women as they wanted.
I didn't know that they where allowed to be bigoted, greedy, lying, bullies...Thanks for the education Mitt.

Mittens isn't rank and file, he's royalty. He gets a pass on some of the recommend questions. Kinda like Orrin Hatch.

I don't know about greedy, lying and bullies, but the few I have met were without a doubt bigots. A bigotry based on their religion. I am not judging the who bunch on the few I know, and in all fairness, if you are a white, straight, conservative, American they are very nice to you. One I know even is still nice to me after learning I am a white, gay, liberal, American but only because when she met me I didn't come across as gay and liberal.

They knew they were an evil organization even before my dad had to face their bigotry personally.

Brigham Young - he was chief of the Danites. When the church disapproved of a member, Bill "fixed" the problem. He was richly rewarded.

After many years and 10 wives, he apparently grew a conscience and turned state's evidence, getting Brigham Young and others indicted for capital murder. Sadly, changes in laws regarding empanelment of grand juries plus a supreme court case meant the cases were thrown out and he and his original (non-plural) family were excommunicated and spent the rest of their lives on the run from the church.

By my grandfather's and dad's generations, the family was "jack" mormon, meaning they went through the motions but didn't really practice or believe. My dad was in Boy Scouts ready to be promoted to Star Scout (I think that's right before Eagle Scout) when his troop leader, the local Mormon bishop, said he most certainly would NOT be promoted - because he wasn't a good church-going Mormon. My dad walked away and never looked back. To his credit he never groused about it, just told the story matter-of-factly. My dad, BTW, was a fine person his whole life who I never heard or even knew of anyone speaking ill of. Everybody loved him. So the loss was the Mormons'.

Vanity Fair article (Feb 2012), that talked about Romney in Boston (bishop? at the time). His former
babysitter (knew well) was pregnant and unwed. She decided to have the baby. Romney made
a visit to her to try and convince her to give the baby up for adoption. she said no and he threatened
excommunication.

A. Push the little lady around and make her obey the bishop just so she is clear about church hierarchy.

B. Gotta keep up appearances - unwed moms LOOK bad when fellow Mormons come to call.
