Why socialist fire departments are necessary in a capitalistic economy.

Think of what happens if you privatize the fire department. You pay your monthly fire department dues, but the neighbors on either side of you do not.

So one of their homes catch fire. Fire departments currently put out fires and work diligently to insure fires do not spread to neighboring structures, but in our privatized version, that neighbor who failed to pay any fire department dues is SOL, so that means that fire could spread to your home.

Ayn Randian philosophy always disregards the fact that homo sapiens is a social animal.

you still have fire damage, and a property-value-killing burnt-out house next door.
