Apparently, Newspapers and the Secret Service are OK with Presidential Assassination Threats.

At least, that looks to be the only plausible explanation for The Daily Item’s recent LTTE, which included the following:

To the families of those fallen heros whose blood lies on the sands of Iraq; don’t you think it might be time to rise up against an administration who has adequately demonstrated their gross incompetence?

I think the appropriate, and politically correct, term is regime change. Forgive me for being blunt, but throughout history this has previously been accompanied by execution by guillotine, firing squad, public hanging.

I have absolutely no reason to expect that current practice should be any different. The end result is elimination of the problem, the method is superfluous. When society dictates, the end always justifies the means, otherwise the actionwould not be taken.

Sure, the paper apologized, after it got caught. But c’mon, they said “no bells went off” when an editor read it before deciding to publish it. The only reason a call to execute our President wouldn’t raise a flag would be that the editor in question didn’t find it offensive.

And at the time of this writing, neither the paper nor Mr. Stover have reported any contact from the Secret Service. So the SS appears to be OK with a Memorial Day message of Presidential assassination. That, Gentle Reader, is some truly sick and scary s***. Even the Prexy’s own bodyguards seem OK with idea of Obama getting offed by some Teabagging nutbar.

This is what the Right Wing Hate Machine has wrought, friends: a culture in which illegality is tolerated if it’s in line with the prejudices of those who notice it. The Sunbury Daily Item and the drunken whoremongers of the US SS are alike in that they see no problem in threats against our head of state.

Christ on a printing press.
