(45,466 posts)He doesn't let that interfere with keeping the site open to all Democratic viewpoints. No one supporting O'Malley, Sanders, or any other Democrat has anything to worry about. Now if this was my site....
BTW, he's never said this, but I think he'd agree that it is possible to support your preferred Democratic candidate without trying to tear down other democratic candidates. Our end goal is to put a Democrat back into the WH and we are going to need everyone's vote to do it.

(135,425 posts)You're not suggesting that the administrators here don't have a "right" to express a preference, like YOU are doing?
Sheeesh. I mean, really, if it's bothering you, start your own website.

Poor Senator Sanders. Some of his "supporters" (cough) are his worst enemies.

(3,041 posts)The point is that last time around, Skinner remained impartial till the very end. This was a wise course. Yes, of course he has the RIGHT to openly support a candidate at any point. Doesn't make it a good move. I understand the motivation to make Hillary supporters feel better since they are in the clear minority on DU - but he shouldn't forget that Bernie supporters are in the clear minority in the real world, and he should be sensitive to the appearance of siding with the mainstream media and the "sensible grown-ups", of being complicit in the marginalization of Bernie and his supporters. If Bernie is truly another Dennis Kucinich who has no shot, what's the harm in letting that play out? All Skinner has done is create another echo chamber and further divide DU. Yes, it's his right to do so - but what will the end result be? Time will tell.
Spazito
(50,251 posts)it has been left unchanged. Bernie supporters, Hillary supporters, O'Malley supporters and those undecided have the same freedom to post as they did before the other site existed.
Asking the admins to stay silent on whom they support is unfair, imo, as their avid interest and activism resulted in the establishment of DU.
Instead of staying silent this time, they opted to take their support to a completely different site while respecting the DU community, as a whole, by leaving it unchanged.

If I remember correctily he supported Hillary last primary and I was for Sen Obama.. I didn't go whining.. it's his board. but, he sure got on board with Obama when he won.. like everyone is going to get on Board for the GE Candidate 2016.
Cha

Good on him.. he, EarlG, and Elad started DU.. I think they can do what they want.

(135,425 posts)Second, this is a PRIVATE website, a private discussion forum--it's not a public library. You JOIN here.
Membership has Terms of Service. We're expected to conform to them.
If it doesn't meet your needs, no one is holding you here against your will. And if you think the game is skewed, you're welcome to go find a game that you believe is more fair.

(135,425 posts)What, do you expect to be served a pudding snack and given a pillow and blankie when you're tired? You support that candidate? You make the font for him.
Go on, get moving. Since all your pals insist that the Sanders crew is the majority here, you'll surely be able to find some smart computer types to help if you're not up to the job.

(3,076 posts)I was responding to a post that asked "Do we now know the "official" DU-administrator approved candidate". The Administrators to this site made a special font for Mrs. Clinton. Yet not for Mr. Sanders (at least to my knowledge). I do believe that answered the question.
There's no need for anger. Perhaps a bit of decaf?
DisgustipatedinCA
(12,530 posts)MADem
(135,425 posts)and you're taking that personal preference and trying to pretend that the administrator is somehow "skewing" the game here on this website.
The answer to that is, no, he's not. He has the right to make a completely separate website that supports his candidate--and guess what? You do, too!
It's not his "job" to do stuff for you. And yeah, there IS no need for anger--so maybe you might dial it back, hmmmm? Pour yourself a cup of that decaf, pal--you need it more than I do!
It might take more than decaf. Here's a hint MADem... I"m support Secretary Clinton for President. I was merely making an observation. Don't let that knee hit you in the eye when it jerks.

(21,024 posts)you're talking to a fellow Democrat who will vote for Ms. Clinton if she's the party's choice? I looked at the web site and it's impressive to see so many testimonials to her undoubted virtues gathered in one place. Looks great, like a shiny new paint job on a '92 Camaro. We'll have to see how it handles cross-country trip on bad roads.

(14,915 posts)being a Hillary apologist or an Obama apologist, depending on where you were sitting on that Primary bus. Being transparent about it this cycle, though my knee-jerk reaction was to say 'Eh-Gads Man!', is extremely smart. Well played Skinner.

(63,645 posts)I'm not deleting posts, and neither are any moderators. The jury system runs the site, not me.
Anyone on DU who tries to claim they are at a disadvantage here because I support a different candidate than they do have no clue what they are talking about. I tend to think some people are just primed to yell "the mods are biased against me" whenever they have to face the consequences for their own behavior. It is a learned behavior that works on every other discussion forum. But it's a total non sequitur here.
