McDonalds Response Regarding Sponsorshop of Duggar Show

Here is my email:

Why on earth has McDonalds failed to make a public stance that your company will no longer support the Duggar family by sponsoring their show (if the Touching Little Children Network is ever stupid enough to bring it back)? McDonald's is well know for its children's meals, playgrounds at your restaurant and you want to continue to associate yourself with the Duggar Family and the Touching Little Children Network? This makes your icon Ronald McDonald look extremely creepy. I would be very hesitant to patronize McDonalds (particularly with children) in the future.

And here is McDonald's Response:

Hello _____:

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald's and share your feelings about our commercial placements. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

First and foremost, please know that the relationship we have with our customers is one we value greatly. Our customers are at the heart of every decision we make, and we would never do anything to intentionally offend any of our customers.

We recognize our customers support a diverse view of programming interests. When it comes to determining where we advertise, we have an obligation to our customers, employees, franchisees, and shareholders to reach our customers as effectively as possible.

To that end, we work hard to have an ongoing dialog with all the media outlets with which we work. We regularly review programming where our advertising messages appear and strive to associate our messages with programming that is relevant, entertaining, speaks to our customers and supports our brand values.

We appreciate you sharing your opinion and have shared it with our Marketing Department, where it will be considered for future advertising decisions.

Again, thank you for contacting McDonald's.

1. So I get that pedophilia and sexual abuse of children is a core McDonald's brand value.

At least that's what they say in the letter.

.... is in a death spiral and it's pretty clear that management has no idea what to do about it.

It will be fun to watch them substitute a kale leaf for lettuce on their burgers and heat their foam rubber buns a little more and then puzzle over how to shake the largely correct widespread belief that their food is not food.

Actually, "after all" applies to them. After all the real meat is used, macs get what is left, gristle, connective tissue, skin, and bone.

They likely send hundreds of that exact letter out every day to every person who complains about where they're advertising. No one actually read the substance of your complaint.

They probably get dozens of messages of the topic of what shows they advertise on. This is a typical pre-written response.

And you expected something other than a form letter response?

You sound like a crackpot, and you make it clear that you are not one of their valued customers. Why would they send a crackpot like you anything other than a canned response? Did you expect an actual human being to take the time to formulate a personal response to your crackpottery? C'mon, Corporatia got better things to do with its money than to worry about non-customers like you. McDonald's relationship with TLC is much more important to its bottom line than its relationship with you...

ETA - I do not believe in sugar coating things or in pulling punches. If Corporations are too stupid to realize that continuing to associate themselves with the Duggar family has the ability to negatively impact to their brand then I don't mind spelling it out to them - bluntly.

the McDonald's response is that Crayola is stating that they will not advertise on anymore Duggar show episodes. McDonalds did not say that.
