One overlooked murderer of the family, Schlafly said, are the free trade people who have done the work of the feminists by getting rid of [middle class] jobs. This led her to discuss the gender pay gap, which she said is actually something that women like because they want to marry someone who makes more than they do (a sentiment that she has expressed before).
Women like to marry a man who makes more than she does, she explained, so then she can take time off and work fewer hours when she has something shed rather do like have a kid and look after her children. So the pay gap, really, is something that women like.

(78,249 posts)Really, Phyllis? Do we really have to go here again? Do you still not understand the concept that marriage is an equal partnership? Do you really not understand that not all women are married, want to be married, or even if they are married want to have children? Do you not understand that even if a man makes more than his wife, his income might not be enough to support a family alone? Can you not grasp that because marriage is an equal partnership, partners can decide for themselves how to share responsibilities and that its not always women who choose to work fewer hours and spend more time looking after the children? It seems you do understand that same-sex marriages exist, even if you dont understand them very well. So what about those marriages that dont even involve a man at all?...
No, Phyllis. The pay gap is not something women like. Its especially not something working women trying to support families, as your own mother did, like. Its not something men who see women as more than property, a pretty face, a body, a sperm receptacle, a servant, or breeding stock like either. Your bitter words that you pull out of your time capsule in order to sell books dont resonate with todays women. Todays women have a wide variety of choices off the menu and want to see other women treated fairly and equally regardless of the choices they make.
Well, it was nice catching up with you. Id be happy to go bra shopping with you sometime in case you need help finding something that doesnt cut off circulation to your brain. Ill leave you with little something heard often uttered by Southern women sipping sweet tea where Im from, Bless your heart.
