Is Martin O'Malley's new super PAC a jab at Hillary Clinton?

I think it's been evident for a while that O'Malley is going to aggressively challenge HRC.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, like most of his declared or potential rivals for the presidency in 2016, now has a super PAC.

With O'Malley expected to declare his presidential bid in Baltimore on Saturday, some of his allies are forming the group, Generation Forward, to boost his chances of taking out Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

<snip>

The group's website, without naming Clinton specifically, lays out its generational pitch in slightly punchier terms. "We need to campaign for our future and scare away the dark politics of yesterday, to place the national interest ahead of the special interests, and to believe in our future," explains the "About Us" section of the site. "We cannot choose to go back to the politics of the twentieth century. We need new leadership for the twenty-first century."

From his announcement:

We must put our national interest first, we must put America first.

But we cannot rebuild the American Dream here at home by catering to the voices of the privileged and the powerful.

Let's be honest. They were the ones who turned our economy upside-down in the first place. And they are the only ones who are benefiting from it.

We need to prosecute cheats, we need to reinstate Glass-Steagall, and if a bank is too big to fail without wrecking our nation's economy, then it needs to be broken up before it breaks us again.

Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest repeat-offending investment banks in America. Recently, the CEO of Goldman Sachs let his employees know that he'd be just fine with either Bush or Clinton.

I bet he would.

Well, I've got news for the bullies of Wall Street.

The presidency is not a crown to be passed back and forth by you between two royal families.

It is a sacred trust to be earned from the people of the United States, and exercised on behalf of the people of the United States.

The only way we are going to rebuild the American Dream is if we re-take control of our own American government!

He just doesn't have the name recognition. I think we have to give him until.the end of summer to get an idea of whether he'll catch on.

But I welcome the additional centrist in our Democratic primary to contrast HRC and compare Bernie.

This will be a fantastic primary, and each one will grow on their own merits.

At the end, we are still going to have to unite around the nominee.

He also has a better environmental record than almost everyone. Mother Jones magazine called him the best candidate on environmental issues.

And Bernie Sanders on Glass-Stegall

Bernie has over 40 years of experience, and has the capability of leading America.

O'Malley was actually polling at 1%, along with Lincoln Chaffee, Bernie is at 15%, and rising on a recent poll.

And there's this (I will post it in GD)

One reason that gives me hope is that if there are several candidates who speak like this, then it means there are a good number of citizens who are paying attention, and educated.

on the race. As much I like Bernie, and he is my first choice, he hasn't shown enough of an appetite to attack Hillary. I also think his economic focus may sound a little one note after a whole.

I'm glad O'Malley is in and in to win and will hit hard. I would be quite happy with an O'Malley/Sanders ticket. They could be a great one-two punch on Hillary. Sanders focuses on economic injustices and O'Malley directly attacks Hillary on social and military issues.

I much prefer Bernie, but O'Malley got it right.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/30/us-usa-election-o-malley-idUSKBN0OF0NL20150530

Decrying big banks as having been behind the financial crisis of 2008, O'Malley singled out Goldman Sachs for particular criticism. He said Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein recently told his employees that "he'd be just fine" with either Republican Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton as president after the November 2016 election.

"Well, I've got news for the bullies of Wall Street," O'Malley said. "The presidency is not a crown to be passed back and forth by you between two royal families."

Hillary Clinton is the wife of former President Bill Clinton while Jeb Bush, who has not yet formally announced his candidacy but is already considered a leading contender among Republican hopefuls, is son and brother of former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

Signs at O'Malley's rally promised he would provide "new leadership," but in fact he faces an uphill battle against former secretary of state Clinton, who consistently tops opinion polls to be the party's nominee, and who enjoys national name recognition.

setting up a truly valuable primary. The primaries should be complementary campaigns to give us the strongest candidate.
O'Malley will help Hillary be a stronger candidate. Getting the legacy battle out of the way can only help her. If she wins, she will have proven herself independent of Bill.
If Bernie were to win, it would make his more liberal platform stronger.
Between the 3, he appears to be the less strident and younger alternative who could probably satisfy supporters of the other two.

Thus far, it looks to me like this could be a really productive primary.
