(114,904 posts)I went to the site to see if they had anything about dropping off food at your PO but I didn't see anything. I'll stop by tomorrow and see if they accept food there.

(36,290 posts)I don't watch the news on tv or listen to the radio much and almost all my info comes from DU. I'm glad you posted this as I have some items set out right now on the table to leave for the postal worker tomorrow.

(14,824 posts)And yes, I've checked expiration dates.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)expiration date. I know people that do. Most canned goods are fine for years. They may lose some food value but to someone without food, they might be a life saver.
But of course be generous with your non-perishable foods. Families are relying on you.
This is one of our big days at our foodbank. Lots of volunteers come to help as the postal trucks deliver food. We also send out pickup trucks to the post offices to help deliver the foods.
Once they arrive we rough sort them, bundle them and put them in our storage facility. We share with partner organizations like Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul.
This is a big day for foodbank. Please give.

riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)This is really big in virtually every community! Please help! If you forgot and your letter carrier's already come and gone, you can drop good and dry goods off at your local post office OR take it directly to the food bank yourself.
Another kick!
