President Obama seeks to undercut Mitt Romney's record on jobs

Last edited Mon May 14, 2012, 07:55 AM - Edit history (2)

http://blog.al.com/wire/2012/05/president_barack_obama_seeks_t.html

President Barack Obama is casting Mitt Romney as a greedy, job-killing corporate titan with little concern for the working class in a new, multi-pronged effort that seeks to undermine the central rationale for his Republican rival's candidacy: his business credentials.

At the center of the push — the president's most forceful attempt yet to sully Romney before the November election — is a biting new TV ad airing Monday that recounts through interviews with former workers the restructuring, and ultimate demise, of a Kansas City, Mo., steel mill under the Republican's private equity firm.

"They made as much money off of it as they could. And they closed it down," says Joe Soptic, a steelworker for 30 years. Jack Cobb, who also worked in the industry for three decades, adds: "It was like a vampire. They came in and sucked the life out of us."

The ad, at the unusual length of 2 minutes, will run in five battleground states: Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Colorado. The campaign declined to describe the size of the ad buy though it's in the middle of running a $25 million, month-long ad campaign in nine states. A longer version of the ad was being posted online Monday.

then this will be a devastating blow to the Romney campaign. Democrats and independents will of course find plenty of cause for revulsion in the truth of this message, but if you recall, even Republicans were hitting Romney with this information during the early part of the primary season, to some substantial effect.

The Republican establishment sees just the kind of fellow to play ball in their annointed candidate, and his superficial appearance seems to lend an air of electability. But every small story about Romney (e.g., dogs and involuntary haircuts) seems to indicate his innate callousness toward his fellow citizens and human beings, and this verifiable portrait of Bain Capital and its founder and CEO will drive that image home in spades.

Everyone will know which side Romney's bread is buttered on.

.... Romney and Bain Capital are true. The lies about Kerry still piss me off.
He had a bronze star, a sliver star, three purple hearts, and he did not lose
one man under his command in some of the most dangerous duty in Vietnam.

Romney will have to run away from the truth that he made millions screwing
the American worker.

..... as his swift boat was under fire and Kerry was hit in the shoulder by shrapnel as he
crawled out on the bow of the boat to rescue the man. The local media in Columbus Ohio
would not put him on the air. What happened to Kerry was awful and the Obama campaign
will not let it happen again because they know that Rove will be working to help Romney this
year.

Hit Mitt w/ what he fears the most and that is the truth about both his business practices and
his personal behavior being a bully.

was green lighted by Karl Rove and was run by something call Creative Response
Concpets who specialized in planting stories into the media. Although Obama should
win in a landslide you can be sure thanx to the "Citizens United" ruling billions of
dollars will be spent in order to find something with which to smear President Obama

Plus, Obama has surrogates, something that Kerry did not have. Gore for that matter too.

I went through the same scenario in the early '90s. Lost everything: A good paying job, a good life for may family, pension, health benefits, self-respect.

A very profitable company that had its bones picked clean by greedy bastards who destroyed the lives of thousands of people to line their already overflowing pockets.

We tried to warn others back then but it fell on deaf ears. No one cared because they didn't believe it could happen to them. Now, less than two decades later, it has happened or is happening to everyone else and with the money people in full control I firmly believe it's too late to do anything about it.

It's like global warming. We're past the tipping point.

Welcome to the new world order.

A corporate raider from New York bought the company, ripped it apart, and walked away with $millions. Many good people lost their jobs, I was one of the fortunate ones that didn't. Many of our suppliers were screwed over because of the bankruptcy (which in this case was simply legalized theft), many of them still won't deal with us because of that.

What's really ironic is that now we're owned by a foreign corporation which bases decisions on long term goals and not next month's bottom line.

Having seen firsthand how corporate raider whores operate, rMoney scares the shit out of me.

Bain wrecked thousands of jobs in order to redistribute wealth upward, and many of the jobs "created" by companies it owned cannibalized from existing businesses. Staples may have added jobs, but it's not as if office supply was a new and expanding field. Jobs at Staples came from squeezing other office supply companies out of the market.
