YES. COLIN POWELL IS A LIAR. WHY DO YOU ASK? SADDAM HUSSEIN'S NUCLEAR/BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS PROGRAMS BLOGGING
Jonathan Schwarz:
A Tiny Revolution: Colin Powell Gets Mad at Me: In his new book, It Worked For Me: In Life and Leadership, Colin Powell writes this about his 2003 presentation at the United Nations about Iraq's supposed WMD: "I get mad when bl*ggers accuse me of lying of knowing the information was false. I didnt."
Well, I'm a blogger, and I accuse Colin Powell of lying. The evidence is overwhelming that he knew much of what he said in front of the Security Council was false.
Powell at the UN:
POWELL: We know from sources that a missile brigade outside Baghdad was disbursing [sic] rocket launchers and warheads containing biological warfare agents to various locations, distributing them to various locations in western Iraq.
January 29, 2003 INR memo:
last bullet. WEAK. Missiles with biological warheads reportedly dispersed. This would be somewhat true in terms of short-range missiles with conventional warheads, but is questionable in terms of longer-range missiles or biological warheads.
February 3, 2003 INR memo:
Page 5. first para, claim re missile brigade dispersing rocket launchers and BW warheads. This claim too is highly questionable and might be subjected to criticism by UN inspection officials.
At the UN, Powell described a satellite picture this way:
The two arrows indicate the presence of sure signs that the bunkers are storing chemical munitions...
The truck you [...] see is a signature item. It's a decontamination vehicle in case something goes wrong.
January 29, 2003 INR memo:
*/WEAK. We support much of this discussion, but we note that decontamination vehicles--cited several times in the text--are water trucks that can have legitimate uses...
Iraq has given UNMOVIC what may be a plausible account for this activity--that this was an exercise involving the movement of conventional explosives; presence of a fire safety truck (water truck, which could also be used as a decontamination vehicle) is common in such an event.

(9,958 posts)was consistent in debunking claims against Iraq. However in compiling the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE), all intelligence has to go through the National Intelligence Director (formerly Director of Central Intelligence). At the time of the Iraq NIE, Porter Goss was the National Intelligence Director. So if Powell had only seen the NIE on Iraq and not the raw intelligence from INR, and trusted Porter Goss, he would be truthful in stating that he did not know the information was false.
But I doubt it.

(9,958 posts)that when a number of political acts work in concert to produce a certain result, the presumption is strong that the actors were aiming at the result in question. When it can be shown that the actors have an interest in producing these results, the presumptions become a fair certainty... no conspiracy theory is required."

He knew.

(62,507 posts)if you have to show the UN and the world cartoons of "mobile labs" instead of photos, then you are lying. The US military has some of the most advanced spy satellites in the world, yet can't show a single sat photo of the "mobile labs".
Sorry ass for name, you are lying.
