Colorado: special legislative session, per Civil Unions

Last edited Mon May 14, 2012, 02:58 PM - Edit history (1)

Before house speaker Frank McNulty shut down the legislature, the bill had made it through two committees with sufficient republican support to move the measure to a floor vote. That floor vote was prevented when McNulty let the clock run out. Considering that McNulty's actions, based in nothing more than personal bigotry, also shut down legislative action on 30 other measures, the governor called a special session to get the job done.

That special session began today. McNulty has now assigned the Civil Unions bill to the State Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, and the most "liberal" republican on that committee is a rightwinger from Colorado Springs.

Damn.

Edit to report that the "liberal" republican has been removed from the committee. No details.

when McNulty recessed the House to run out the clock.

But if I repeated what that person said here, I'd get my post hidden. It got the sergeants in the Capitol to clear the gallery.
