Widow Receives Nasty Note Over Her Relentlessly Gay Rainbow Yard Lights
When Julie Baker, a widow and mother of four, recently stepped out onto her front porch, she found an anonymous note taped to her door.
Your yard is becoming Relentlessly Gay! the note read. Myself and others in the neighborhood ask that you Tone It Down. This is a Christian area and there are Children. Keep it up and I will be Forced to call the Police on you! Your kind need to have Respect for GOD.
It was signed, A Concerned Home Owner.
The note referred to a set of rainbow-colored solar yard lamps Baker had set up in her garden. For the record, they arent illegal, so were not sure what this concerned home owner expects police to do about it.
Rather than get angry, Baker took a page from Memories Pizzas playbook and launched a GoFundMe page to fight back.
I need more rainbows, she writes. Many, many more rainbows.
Here's her GoFundMe page... She gonna be able to buy tons of rainbows! http://www.gofundme.com/x6dkw9h
on edit: here is her "offensive" rainbow garden

I would guess she also shows how to make them in whatever color on her page. I don't recall if any of the above links spell that out, other than to use colored LEDs.
murielm99
(30,736 posts)All you need is glitter, in whatever colors you like, and some modge podge. After you color the jars, then you use LEDs.
kentauros
(29,414 posts)I was thinking either colored LEDs or colored acetate sheets wrapped inside the jars.
Are you going to try making any? I've never used the instructions I linked, but they do look pretty simple.

(15,381 posts)Is very evocative. But not as evocative as, "Tempestuous bat guano."
Also a good name for a band. Either... Maybe Tempestuous Bat Guano could open for A Shit-Ton of Rainbows...

(19,371 posts)Their studio stuf can get a bit ponderous and sometimes it's just too "much", but I saw them live in San Jose about ten years ago and what they did on stage was incredible. That three guys could produce that kind of sound was amazing.
As far as rock drummers go though, I'm right there with you on JB. Had it all that one did. Intensity, emotion, and technique that changed the course of rock drumming IMO.

(34,582 posts)I figured we might agree a little bit- blues can be a little "messy"- take Howlin Wolf. Raw emotion, and maybe a little fear (Wolf was an intimidating presence)

(22,845 posts)This is so ridiculous. Light contains a spectrum of colors. Sunlight at certan angles, plus water droplets, equals rainbows. These are natural phenomena, brought to us by Mother Nature.
Just because something has a rainbow of colors doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could just mean that someone likes that combination of colors.
These fundie nuts apparently see demons in everything. In my humble opinion, this is a symptom of mental illness. Paranoia, perhaps.

(11,012 posts)other one (something like Indigogo) when I believed in it. I think Go Fund Me and the other one are great things. No one is forcing anyone to contribute and some of the people using them are legitimately in need or have great ideas that they cannot fund any other way.
No, I didn't contribute to Rainbow lady, but that was because she had already met nearly five times her goal by the time I found it. And, to be honest, I have better things to contribute my hard earned bucks.

(1,074 posts)I guess I'm "relentlessly gay" too. According to the dictionary, relentless is: unyieldingly severe, strict, or harsh. I guess that does describe my gayness. Unyieldingly severely gay. Strictly gay. Harshly gay. Hmm.
