IL: Passengers Face 'Rigorous' Screenings for NATO

May 15--Passengers who ride the South Shore line to Chicago should expect "rigorous" security checks by bomb-sniffing dogs and searches Sunday and Monday due to NATO summit activities at McCormick Place, the commuter rail line said.

Heightened security concerns also prompted the railroad to cancel 11 trains Monday, causing some riders who work downtown that day to adjust their schedules.

Riders those two days also will face restrictions on what they can carry aboard trains. They will be limited to one bag, not to exceed 15 inches by 15 inches and 4 inches wide.

That means no backpacks, parcels, luggage or bicycles, and no food or liquids, including coffee and water, the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District reported Monday. ................(more)

Probably forbid on-street parking, too. Now he's gotta walk a half-mile to the office, and it's supposed to rain all week.

place or whatever it is called. So I can understand precautions but it does beg to ask who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to hold nato and originally the g8 at mccormick place with a big bold security risk like that?
