First, i dont think they should be called pranks because its a case of bullying.
Secondly, how come its always white kids that do it?

(21,646 posts)All the videos are the same archetype I agree = no one they know will be at the window is a given !
Assault is a crime
I'm surprised fast food places do not pursue of course they also look down on their low income workers and do not treat them nice so I guess why would they??
Now someone who has very little must now spend money/time at a laundromat before going to work long hours the next day for little pay and maybe the same assault.
Out of touch and biased just like their parents who will tell you it was just a joke ( at the expense of another human being is not the issue) and will defend their kid no matter how big an ass hole he is .
I have a friend who is a high school science teacher and they treat him and other teachers like crap in some of these suburban paradises too........ better not complain to the parents if you want to keep your job though experience has proven!!!

In this case it would only be a joke if everybody laughed at the end.

(7,932 posts)its definitely premeditated assault.

(44,173 posts)A few times I have seen the fast food worker successfully retaliate by hitting the assailant's car window with a drink or a glob of food.

(12,377 posts)If you walked into a lawyers office and did this, or into a forbes top 500 company?
Surly you would be arrested and charged? So why is it okay for fast food workers?

(10,136 posts)fast food does not have in-house security and the crime takes place outside anyway. The chances of getting caught are slim, and the kids know it. The kids are also smart enough to not go inside and try this.

I just don't know why these ass clowns even think this is funny.

(29,149 posts)Assault, sure.

(13,062 posts)if you use ANYTHING other than your own body to assault someone, whether a pencil, a snowball, or a twinkie, it is a deadly weapon.

(27,247 posts)at least not in California:
"Californias Penal Code section 245(a)(1) defines "deadly weapon" as an object, instrument, or weapon that is capable of producing and likely to produce death or great bodily injury."[\b]

(29,149 posts)Most of the statutes that I've seen, at least specify something being used in a manner that is intended to or is likely to cause serious injury. I don't see that argument being successful in the case of a plastic cup filled with soda.

(29,149 posts)that's not what the whole "fire in the hole joke" thing involves, as far as I understand it. Granted, I haven't done a lot of research, but the videos I've seen/seen discussed all involved cups of soda being thrown through drive-through windows.
Hot sauce would be a different issue. I could certainly see the argument that throwing hot sauce in someone's face would be likely to cause serious injury. (I'm not sure how likely the ADW charge would actually be, though.)

(64,407 posts)Were I the owner of a fast food place, and wanted to protect my investment from douchebag fucking teenage assholes that would do this sort of thing, I'd spend a tiny bit of money on a quality camera that provided a constant feed of the drive through from around 12 feet back from the window. Just tucked away out of arms length. Then another one at the window to get the face of the person at the wheel (because a crafty lawyer will say "oh, snowflake wasn't driving" at the time of the incident. When some little shitwit felt the need, no big deal. The video gets turned over to the cops, my lawyer contacts the parents of the little fuck behind the wheel with a bill for damages, fees and costs. Then the restraining order for their little bundle of joy from ever coming on my property again.
Have a nice fucking day.

(64,407 posts)I'd post a general sign at the front that video surveillance was being used, but I wouldn't suggest the extent of it. Catch a couple idiots, maybe they think twice about doing it ANYWHERE and not just at my place. Nobody in this day and age should have any expectation that what they do on commercial property is not being recorded.

(12,377 posts)In her first job, maybe a bit insecure, about whats expected and a bunch of young rich guys, come thru, throw a cup of coke over you and start laughing their asses off.
I HATE all bullying, and I HATE when bullying gets downplayed.
