(22,308 posts)Shrub cut funding to the states because, in his opinion, the states could handle things better. This just helped him hide the enormity of his true deficit. All these state deficits are his fault too.
Federal taxes should be raised and some of that money should be shared with the states. I don't consider that a bail out.
Leaving it all to the states just creates a second version of a "race to the bottom" that we have also begun with free trade. They need to keep cutting state taxes and regulations just to attract businesses so their citizens can be employed. Then the neighboring state does the same thing plus a little bit more so the first state must lower it's standards once again.
We are in decline as a nation because we have engaged in a race to the bottom. What do people expect from racing to the bottom, other than decline?

(Alaska, if not currently, was THE biggest offender).

(31,936 posts)Most of the West is owned by the federal government and they refuse to turn it over to the states or sell it.
