Chicago police engage in a preemptive raid against activists that planned to protest the NATO Summit

Chicago police have reportedly engaged in a preemptive raid against activists that planned to protest the NATO summit.

Police broke down a door to access a 6-unit apartment building near 32nd & Morgan Streets without a search warrant. Police entered an apartment with guns drawn and tackled one of the tenants to the floor in his kitchen. Two tenants were handcuffed for more than 2 hours in their living room while police searched their apartment and a neighboring unit, repeatedly calling one of the tenants a “Commie faggot.” A search warrant produced 4 hours after police broke into the apartment was missing a judge’s signature, according to witnesses.

kind of raids shows me how badly our rights have deteriorated since the 60's. The media used to be the peoples watchdog, now they're the corporations lapdog.

Here's a distinction for you:

Scenario 1: an unsourced blog post claiming something happened without offering either proof, or any other details such as whether legitimate arrest or search warrants were involved, in the interest of creating a narrative to score themselves traffic.

Scenario 2: a real-world situation where people are executed en masse for protesting, "weak" or "defective" persons tortured to death, elections abolished, etcetera.

One of these is actual fascism. The other is Fox News Left.

Assuming the arrest did happen as described and BEFORE an actual crime was committed, one must conclude that it is within the realm of fascism AND

the fact that your definition of fascism must be connected to mass executions is a perfect demonstration of how the over-inflation of the term has led people to miss what is happening in front of their own eyes.

The term fascism itself does not in any way imply mass executions.

Educate yourself.

As it happens, I have absolutely no doubt that my education on fascism and the history behind it is vastly superior to yours. Doubly so if you consider an unsourced, unconfirmed blog entry by someone trying to sell you a story as being "educational."

Officers wearing Chicago Police uniforms raided an apartment in Bridgeport late Wednesday and detained at least eight activists without justification, lawyers working on behalf of NATO protesters alleged today.

Police refused to provide any details about the alleged raid or whether they were detaining people.

Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was asked about the allegation after announcing at a news conference this afternoon that there had been “zero arrests, as far as protest activity today.”

Asked about the Bridgeport incident, McCarthy said only that there was an “inquiry” authorities were looking into and he would have to gather further information before commenting.

Both Kevin Gosztola for The Dissenter and the Trib reporters both use the National Lawyers guild as a source. Both accurately state that it is the National Lawyers Guild that is making the claim.

Neither can offer any further substantiation at this time.
