Nation with Crumbling Bridges and Roads Excited to Build Giant Wall

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—As America’s bridges, roads, and other infrastructure dangerously deteriorate from decades of neglect, there is a mounting sense of urgency that it is time to build a giant wall.

Across the U.S., whose rail system is a rickety antique plagued by deadly accidents, Americans are increasingly recognizing that building a wall with Mexico, and possibly another one with Canada, should be the country’s top priority.

Harland Dorrinson, the executive director of a Washington-based think tank called the Center for Responsible Immigration, believes that most Americans favor the building of border walls over extravagant pet projects like structurally sound freeway overpasses.

“The estimated cost of a border wall with Mexico is five billion dollars,” he said. “We could easily blow the same amount of money on infrastructure repairs and have nothing to show for it but functioning highways.”

$5 Billion is pocket change in a war. I thought we could have used the money for the F-35 program to fund a Guaranteed Minimum Income or free college program.

But, we don't consider profit in the equation.

War is profit. Infrastructure is expense.

That's why we need politicians. To keep our priorities straight and to protect the right to profit.

Than spend it on our own country and citizens, and have nothing to show for it but state of the art schools, well-paid teachers, functioning highways, safe bridges, and a bunch of other stuff nobody cares about, because if it was important, the teevee would be talking about it.

Everything he touches HAS to have his name on it. Should he win, his first act would be to change the White House to the TRUMP House.

It covers what a disaster the fence we have now is down by the Mexican border.

It's worth a look.

Many of us who live right next to the wall, like we do in El Paso, cannot wait for the day when they tear that damned eye-sore down. What a travesty and waste of money. It turned our beautiful desert border into a Stalag 17. I'm far more likely to get shot by a fox news watching, Alex Jones listening, low information fearful white man packing his pistol than I am by any Mexican or gang-banger or criminal. And for my republican friends, the fact is that El Paso is one of the three safest big cities in our country. Look it up, educate yourselves and let the truth wash over you. Go Miners!

It's weird to think that this actually is the right wing philosophy.

Any use of tax dollars to benefit the lives of regular people causes howls of outrage.

Seems almost too good to be true, doesn't it? Maybe if we all can believe we truly deserve it, it will seem more possible -- and thus be more possible.
