Rowan County Clerk's office refused to issue a marriage license to a gay couples Tuesday morning, defying a judge's order.
A deputy clerk told April Miller and Karen Roberts, that no licenses would be issued. David Moore and David Ermold, also came for a license and were rejected a fourth time.
Davis initially refused to come out of her office. Moore demanded to speak with her, and Davis finally came out and talked with him.
Davis said she was refusing to issue the licenses "under the authority of God."
"I pay your salary. I'm paying you to discriminate against me right now. That's what I'm paying for," Moore said.
Protesters from both side filled the clerk's office. Some chanted, "Do your job," while others yelled, "Praise the Lord" and "stand your ground."

Obviously her bible is the Cherry Picker's Edition.

(16,066 posts)If he does nothing, he'll be looked upon as an unwitting ally of Davis, and the integrity of his court will always be questioned!
He can send her to jail for contempt, which would give the Kentucky authorities the justification to remove her from office!

(4,135 posts)that she intends to be sent to jail. She better hope for enough donations to cover the fines she's likely to get though because I don't think her $80K salary is going to be enough.
