No, ‘Denali’ Is Not a Kenyan Word For ‘Black Power’

Conservatives reacted accordingly when the White House announced President Obama‘s plan to rename Mt. McKinley, named for President William McKinley, after its traditional Athabaskan name, “Denali.”

Most of the criticism consisted of the usual accusations — Obama overstepping his power in the executive branch, ignoring the U.S. Congress (where a similar discussion has been ongoing for years), and a litany of other supposedly impeachable offenses.

However, perhaps the most volatile — yet otherwise unsurprising — bit of flack came in the form of a rather misinformed meme. The meme claims that “Denali” is a Kenyan word for “black power”:

Every single thing they oppose can be traced first to their hatred of a Black man named Obama as president.

Since 75% or more of what Obama has done or proposed was NOT opposed by them before he did it, it is easy for me to make this claim.

On the rare case where they disagree with him and would regardless of who he was, it is then where the disagreement and opposition is ramped up to level 10 because he is the Black man named Obama.

In the rare case where a POC opposes him, from the right, like Ben Carson, i guess it isnt based in color but stupidity.

TWO REPUBLICAN SENATORS from AK? The White House didn't initiate this--they simply used it as a platform to discuss climate issues.

The AK senators wanted the state tags to match the federal ones. The state had approved the change long ago.

I think they speak Swahili, which last time I checked was it's own distinct language. Also Denali is a word derived from the natives in Alaska, not a word from a place thousands and thousands of miles away across the ocean.

Repukes are a sad joke of the human race. I don't know of a more pathetic group of people.

Hell if there can be Klingon and Elvish there can be Kenyan.

So if Denali = black power then Denmark = black metal, Denial = fascination with black male endowment, Density = hatred or phobia about blacks, Dentist = black entrapment, Denim = I'm black, Dendrite = black studies student, Denounce = black market for commodities and Denigrate = ....well, a rude word for black folks?
