Looking out on Denali as I write this, I have this to say to Bonehead, Portmand and Tramp

The decision to return the official name of this magnificent peak to the name it has had since before Columbus landed was NOT meant as a slight to Ohioans, you short-sighted, lame-brained dolts. The name of Bonehead's state of Ohio is an Iroquois word for the Ohio (ohi-yo= great river) River.

If he wants to rename his home state McKinley, let him introduce THAT in Congress. The people of Alaska will surely not object. The lynch mob of angry Ohioans might be difficult to deal with, but that's his problem.

We arrived last night. I took a few pics yesterday afternoon. I took this one 2 hours ago after breakfast:

William McKinley never even set eyes on this place. I'll bet Bonehead hasn't either. Their loss.

That's probably only because "Denali" has fewer letters in it than "McKinley," and therefore takes less time to read......

Oh, wait. That's on her hand.

and you (and the president) are so lucky to have this gorgeous weather. The summit of Denali is only visible about 40% of the time because it makes it's own weather.

AND--we had a sunny, cloudless day in Ketchikan, too--the best day of the year weather-wise according to them.

We have had (apparently) unusual luck with the weather on our first visit to Alaska.

A good omen?

And it's so nice that the president is here, too, for this beautiful fall weather. It seems like he is being welcomed warmly wherever he goes, which is encouraging to me. Some of the comments I read here and there on line before the visit worried me a bit, but it seems like the Obama-haters are laying low.

I'm so glad Anchorage and Alaska have new leadership that is friendly to the president. It would have been much more awkward last year when our mayor and the governor were much further to the right.

Similarly, the locals thought the place with a well-established name shouldn't be subject to renaming - the man-made facility continues to bear his name, of course.
