(115,587 posts)and it is now Mt. McKinley, whether Japan likes it or not. Maybe Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland should be called Mt. McKinley also, so Americans can pronounce it. McKinley spent as much time in Japan and Iceland as he did in Alaska, so why not?

When I was 12 or 13 she made one that kinda blew up in the middle and rose to mountainous heights and I called it Mt Fuji and we all thought that was funny - and the pie was awesome so she always made them like that after that and I will always equate Mt Fuji with my mom's apple pie.
