Ben Carson may have the best chance of winning the Republican nomination at the moment

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2015/PPP_Release_National_90115.pdf

PPP has done some 2 candidate match-ups between Trump and other Republicans. They all lose to Trump (Bush 34-59, Fiorina 41-48, Rubio 42-50, Walker 39-53), excerpt Carson, who beats Trump 49-43. And Carson is in 2nd place in 'who is your 1st choice', and leads 2nd choice (though how relevant that is depends on how many are from the no-hope candidates likely to drop out early).

So if Carson can hang on, he could have a chance of winning when it's down to a few. Unless Trump hoovers up huge numbers of delegates early on, of course. Or Republicans come to their senses, but that seems a long shot.

(Bonus question: are the 16% of Bobby Jindal voters who say their (his? At a share of under 1% of 573 Republicans polled, perhaps it's just one person) 2nd choice candidate is Bobby Jindal an indication of a really dumb voter, or a formatting error by PPP?)

and at the same time he is seen as more serious and less assholish.

He is of course the equivalent of a 9 yr old child on a tantrum when it comes to his actual positions, but he is fun to watch.

I mean more than Dubya, who was a party boy who merely supported the religious right. Carson is a real loony toon. We let him get to the White House at our collective peril. We all need to vote for the Dem nominee no matter who that is.

republicans change candidates like most people change socks.

He will be the flavor of the month until he starts getting attacked ... then, he will fold, too.

Most of the same GOPers who are religious fundamentalists are also big racists.

Carson is just selling some books.

He will not be the nominee. He's still popular among the base because he hasn't been attacked by anyone. Once he is seen as among the leaders, he'll be cut back to size.
