(46,436 posts)that the president has been very warmly received up here, and even skeptics and right-wing conservatives have been commenting here and there about how personable he is and that it's really cool that he's visiting western Alaska, especially, which is probably a first for any sitting president. Presidents don't come up here very often, and when they do, they usually just drop down at JBER on their way to somewhere else and address the soldiers for a few minutes. This visit is historic in so many ways.
