OMG! Kentucky has lost its mind over Kim Davis!

Now the President of the KY Senate, a Republican, is calling on Judge Brunner to delay enforcing his ruing until the Legislature can meet and pass a special law giving Kim Davis special dispensation to NOT issue Marriage Licences to same sex couples.

http://news.yahoo.com/kentucky-clerk-gets-help-gop-state-senate-president-230909529.html

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Republican president of the Kentucky state Senate has asked a federal judge to withhold his ruling ordering a county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Republican Senate President Robert Stivers says U.S. District Judge David Bunning needs to give the state legislature time to pass a law that would exempt Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis from having to issue marriage licenses. The state legislature is not in session and won't be until January. Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear has refused to call for a special session, arguing it would waste taxpayer money for an issue that only affects one clerk.

"The Supreme Court ruling has completely obliterated the definition of marriage and the process for obtaining a marriage license in Kentucky," Stivers said in a news release. "The General Assembly will be compelled to amend many sections of Kentucky law, not just for the issuance of marriage licenses, to comply with the recent Supreme Court decision."

I freaking live in Kentucky and I am embarrassed! Note that the Democrat Governor of Kentucky has refused to call for a special session of the legislature. And now we are trying to somehow morph an argument that Davis makes based on her religious beliefs into an argument based on legal wording.

Oh, poor Kentucky, we have to change the wording on all these laws that say that a marriage must be applied for in the county that the female lives, but if we have two men applying for a marriage license we don't have a female, so clerks don't know what to do. How stupid do they think we are? Oh, I forgot, Faux mews et all. (I meant to type News there, but decided the typo was kind of appropriate so let it stand.)

KY has more registered Dems than Repugs. We have a Democrat Gov, Dem Lt. Gov, and Dem AG. Yes, the legislature is R, due to Gerrymandering. Gov Basher is pretty good. A somewhat conservative Dem, but still solidly Dem. He met with Davis and told her, "Do your job or quit." He has refused to call a special session of the legislature to 'consider the bill to exempt Davis'. Yes, KY was one of the states bringing suit against gay marriage, but only because the legislature pushed them into it. The AG refused to actively persue it because he said it was "A waste of taxpayer money".

So, don't tar all of Ky with the 'dumb hillbilly' brush. Yeah, we got a lot of them, but we have a lot of Dems and Progressives as well.

So, a person who runs as a Democrat and wins say, the governorship, is a Democrat Governor, just as a Republican would be a Republican Governor. We have a Democratic form of government (not really, it is a Representative form of government, but that is a discussion for a different thread.)

The two major parties in the US are "Republican" and "Democratic."

Democrat governor is as incorrect as Republic governor would be.

The singular nouns are Democrat and Republican.
The plural nouns are Democrats and Republicans.
The adjectives are Democratic and Republican.

"Democrat" is a noun, not an adjective.

Using nouns as adjectives is the surest mark of a person with a poor grasp on the English language.

It should have been Democratic Gov, not Democrat Gov, and I misread my wikipedia when I checked the official name of the political parties. However, for you to imply that I have a 'poor grasp of the English language' marks you as a person who thinks way too much of yourself and way too little of others.

Here's the checklist I use to interpret what Christian values means. It comes from the Sermon on the Mount. Supposedly in his own words: Christ blessed people who were lost spiritually; he blessed the meek who must bend their backs to others; he blessed those who were sad; blessed those with a social conscience who sought justice; those who showed compassion, mercy, charity toward others; those with pure hearts; and he blessed peacemakers. He did not tell people to throw stones at others -- not gays, not non-believers, not even women who were thrice divorced and had not always been pure of heart. He did say look to your own sins before casting judgment on others.

This is the problem I have with so many Christians. They can't read.

For the most part, I suspect that the Christians on DU do try to follow his teachings. But even non-believers like me can see that his words do not apply to the actions of the CINO (Christian in name only) in Kentucky.
