Peter Kramer/NBC(LOS ANGELES) -- Matt Damon says the reason he hasn't done a Bourne movie since 2007 is that he and director Paul Greengrass were waiting for a big enough change in the world.
Enter Edward Snowden.
Though his first three movies were hits, the actor told BuzzFeed, "We always looked at those movies as really about the Bush presidency, and so we kind of had to wait for the world to change."
So, after Snowden's privacy revelations in recent years, Damon said, Without giving too much of it away, its Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world....There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy. .....................(more)

The first three were about the Bush presidency? I'm sure Ludlam's estate is happy to hear that. It must be why the movies were so lame although the third book was the worse one of the three.
If they want to make a statement, write their own script, they don't because they want to rake in the book's fans.

(51,311 posts)3. All I know is: I was obsessed with thse movies UNTIL---one day I watched one, and it was SPEEDED UP.
YES. NOW these movies, to fit the time and commercials on Bravo, etc., have been speeded up to the point of inducing mal de mer in the viewer. NOTHING stays in focus for more than a split-second.
I wish I were wrong. But my eyes tell me I'm not.
