I thought I was out of it when I thought BLM meant Bureau of Land Management - but

I'm way ahead of some people who seem to think BLM means "Open season on cops". How did people come to perceive a movement meant to rein in trigger happy cops as one encouraging people to shoot cops? It's time for the good cops to step up and support BLM and get rid of the bad apples. (and maybe start requiring drug tests for steroids and amphetamines! Now that's a war on drugs I could support)

They pretend that BLM incites violence, which is ridiculous on its face. But it's a big enough lie that gullible people are happy to swallow it.

but there's certainly a strain among some participants that's very disturbing. Politics is hardball, unfair, and it's entirely unsurprising that conservatives will use the worst radicals to characterize the entire movement.

If BLM activists chant "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon," it's properly going to get news coverage, no less after the execution of a police officer, regardless if the events are directly connected.

I would normally suggest that we distance ourselves from this unfortunate minority within the BLM movement, but I admit to being extremely shocked about how many posts I've recently seen here that have unequivocally endorsed, supported, or excused violence against all police officers. My only solace has been that most of these posts were quickly alerted and removed by DU member juries.
