So the serial cheater/serial liar gets his suspension overturned

Last edited Thu Sep 3, 2015, 05:16 PM - Edit history (2)

Fuck him. Fuck his attitude. Fuck his lying. Fuck his cheating. Fuck the whole cheating organization that are the Patriots.

Edited to add:
Now that the replies are rolling in, let me make an observation: I am amazed at how many people can tolerate cheating when its their home town team who gets away with it.

Here's the deal, Brady and the entire Pats organization have been cheaters for years. You know it and I know it. I am not a football fan at all, rarely watch a game, and almost never have a clue about the standings. In short, I really don't care. Except that cheating is cheating.

The baseball juicers are cheaters. They are. They got punished.

Pete Rose is still banned for life for what was not a big deal in terms of impact on the game, and there is no evidence he did anything with the Reds that was actual cheating. But there he is. Done wrone, Done gone.

So, those of you cheering that Brady "got off", have a swell day. Toast cheating if you wish. I guess its okay when the home team does it, huh?

Nice.

but, based on what I've heard so far, the decision was based not on the judge's opinion of whether or not Tom Brady actually did or did not "cheat." Instead, the decision was based on the process; in other words, the judge questioned how the NFL imposed the discipline it did, whether that discipline was consistent with the penalties meted out in other NFL disciplinary cases, and whether Brady was given appropriate access to the evidence against him and a fair opportunity to argue his case before the disciplinary action was effected. I am not a Brady fan at all, don't follow the Patriots, and am not all that familiar with what happened during the disciplinary process, but it's clear to me that this judge felt the NFL was too heavy handed and did not follow their own process in the disciplinary action because they wanted to send a strong signal to the league that cheating would not be tolerated. But sometimes, when you try too hard to send a strong message by going after a single individual, you end up stubbing your toe, and that's what appeared to have happened here. By the way, this is not the first time the NFL and its lawyers have ended up being criticized for the way they handle disciplinary matters.

Judges tend not to appreciate these sorts of actions. Goodell thinks he is Tsar of all the Russias and the judge rather sharply informed him that he is not.

This case is all about the process and Goodell got his ass kicked for ignoring it/trying to circumvent it.

And my team is not the Pats, so I don't have a dog in the fight.

against Brady and a fair opportunity to argue its case since Brady deleted the text messages from his cell phone. When viewed in that regard it is apparent that Brady had more access to the evidence against him than the NFL or anyone else.

thanks, for the most part, to their fans).

There was a penalty that should have been handed out, and that was $25K. Roger was playing God, and you can't make up punishments outside of the CBA when they aren't expressly addressed in that CBA. He went too far. (gosh I wish I could remember the name of the DUer who told me how "wrong" I was and that "it would never happen" when I said we'd see this in front of a judge someday

As far as baseball goes... I didn't care much about that either. We have no idea what players were and weren't on back in the way-back day. It's always been my quiet belief that Babe Ruth was hopped up on something to hit that great, pitch that great AND field that great. Anyway, that's my small piece. I just can't get that worked up about it either way, and I love both sports.

As others said, just makes it clear what the anger and issue is all about. And we see that extended with a lot of folks around these parts with other issues where the facts just don't matter compared to what they believe or feel it should be.

Sounds... familiar...

I've been in shouting matches with grown men over minor rules points in toy soldier battles. I watched a guy storm out of a house because of a disagreement during a game where we were pretending to be elves fighting orcs and shit.

Hobbies can evoke strong reactions.
