Booker, Warner, Heitkamp Announce Support for Iran Nuclear Deal

New Jersey Democrat Sen. Cory Booker said he would support the Iran nuclear accord on Thursday, splitting with his state’s senior senator over the contentious deal.

Mr. Booker’s decision ended weeks of speculation over whether he would back an agreement that has divided the Jewish community in his region. Many Democratic lawmakers in the New Jersey and New York area have opted to oppose the accord, including Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) and Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, who is expected to be the next Senate Democratic leader. New York’s junior senator, Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, supports the deal.

Mr. Booker did not make his decision public until after President Barack Obama had already secured enough votes in Congress to ensure he can implement the deal. On Wednesday, Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D., Md.) became the 34th member of the Senate Democratic caucus to back the accord. Even if Congress passes a resolution aimed at undercutting the deal later this month, Mr. Obama has the votes in the Senate to sustain a promised veto.

Also on Thursday, Democratic Sens. Mark Warner of Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota backed the Iran agreement, bringing support for the deal up to 37 senators.

Correction to the corporate media headline...the resolution of disapproval for the Iran Nuclear Deal will fail....and possibly now not even voted on if a filibuster is upheld!!

What a crushing blow to the GOP, AIPAC , all the Bush Warhawks ......and Bibi!
