Mississippi’s flag – time for a change

... Each time I drive by my local municipal city hall, I am offended by the Mississippi flag flying in front of a building in which my tax dollars are used to keep it operating. The Mississippi flag embroidered with the Confederate battle flag is a constant reminder of a war that was fought to keep my ancestors enslaved. ... Mississippi has the largest population of African Americans in the nation. African Americans make up 37 percent of Mississippis population. New York has the largest Jewish population in America. Jewish citizens make up only 9 percent of New Yorks population. What if the New York State Flag had the Nazi Swastika embroidered on it? How do you think the Jewish population would feel? How long do you think that flag would last? Imagine if German Americans drove around New York flying the Nazi Swastika from the back of their trucks, hanging it on their front porch, and justifying it by stating, Its our heritage! What if German Americans sold Swastika merchandise in stores and businesses frequented by Jews? How well do you think this would be received by the Jewish community? Would we say to the Jewish community Just get over it. Its our heritage! ...
Since we are the Magnolia State, what about us removing the Confederate flag from our state flag and replacing it with the Magnolia flower? ...
