One republican's take on the GOP today. WOW!

The following is from a comment on a story about a growing (possible) scandal involving Gov. Robert Bentley-R, Alabama.
http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/09/alabama_needs_answers_where_is.html#incart_river

"Yesterday my wife and I attended a birthday lunch with a large group of older, retired, successful mostly Republicans. It was as if someone had opened a skylight and sunshine suddenly appeared in the room as the negative comments began regarding Bentley, Trump, Davis, Hubbard, the GOP Presidential Primary circus and Christianity being given a black eye by "Hypocrites", "ignorance" and "stupidity".

My wife and I worked for Reagan when he ran for governor and the presidency. We have a signed picture of us and Reagan in the Oval Office. When S.C. Governor Mark Sanford began his primary bid for a second term as governor, I went to S.C. 3 times working for his defeat. We have pictures of us with Jeb Bush at a Miami fundraiser where we worked on his campaign as governor. We are personal friends (with the private phone numbers) of 2 long-time (current) U.S. Republican Senators. We voted a straight Republican ballot for 50 years until President Obama ran for his first time and we voted, not for President Obama, but against Sarah Palin. The last time, we proudly voted for President Obama and thank God he won.

This is what we heard at the luncheon: "If I tell you that chicken dips snuff you can wager your life's net worth there's a can of Tubers Snuff under one of those chickens wings" There is one influential group of white haired older Republican ready to pull the Democrat lever against almost any Republican Candidate... and some ready to pull for Democrats - period. Why? We all think the Republican Party has been hijacked by hypocrites who have no concept of truth, morality, civil justice and most certainly not the scriptures."

...inhaled through the nose. "Dipping" snuff is the act of inhaling it.

I think he means that if he tells you something, no matter how unlikely (chicken dips snuff, or blue-haired & blue-blood Republicans voting for Democrats), it's the truth (you will find evidence of the chicken's said snuff-dipping, or those votes going Democratic).

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

The GOP is already been taken over by the fascists. All who aren't all in should bail. Indy is the way to go. Progressive. Because the d Dems aren't far behind being owned by the billionaires is just as bad. Independent party is the next big thing.

we read stories of a person, or group of people, swearing they will not vote Republican in the next election.

Great if it really happens, but I suspect that it doesn't always hold.

I first noticed this in 2004... I had some people around the office announce loudly in the months and weeks before the election that they hated Bush and were voting Kerry. One guy was even answering his phone with "Bush is bad, vote Kerry," or something along those lines.

However, afterwards, each person later confessed to voting Bush. Why? Because the advertisements and the media had made them more afraid of voting for Kerry than it did of voting for Bush.

I found the same thing happening in 2008 and 2012.

Is what was once the republican party. These people are dangerous. Anti freedom in the extreme. They want to destroy freedom and democracy in this country and replace it with sharia religious law by force.

Take a look at some speeches by Ted Cruz's nutcase dominunist daddy. Its scary and I say this as a Christian. These people in no way represent me, thats for damn sure.

Want to understand where the tea party champion's hardcore views come from? Meet his father, Rafael.

—By David Corn | Thu Oct. 31, 2013

A sermon Rafael Cruz delivered in August 2012 at an Irving, Texas, mega-church has also come under scrutiny. At that event, he asserted that Christian true believers are "anointed" by God to "take dominion" of the world in "every area: society, education, government, and economics." He was preaching a particular form of evangelical Christianity known as Dominionism (a.k.a. Christian Reconstructionism) that holds that these "anointed" Christians are destined to take over the government and create in practice, if not in official terms, a theocracy.

Rafael Cruz also endorsed the evangelical belief known as the "end-time transfer of wealth"—that is, as a prelude to the second coming of Christ, God will seize the wealth of the wicked and redistribute it to believers. But, Cruz told the flock, don't expect to benefit from this unless you tithe mightily. Introducing Cruz at this service, Christian Zionist pastor Larry Huch offered this bottom line: In the coming year, he predicted, "God will begin to rule and reign. Not Wall Street, not Washington, God's people and his kingdom will begin to rule and reign. I know that's why God got Rafael's son elected, Ted Cruz, the next senator." (In July, several prominent Dominionist pastors at a ceremony in Iowa blessed and anointed Ted Cruz, rendering him, in their view, a "king" who would help usher in the kingdom of Christ.)
