Gov. Jindal’s War On Planned Parenthood Has Created A Raging Syphilis Epidemic

Last edited Sat Sep 5, 2015, 02:10 PM - Edit history (1)

Poor Bobby, who could have foreseen blah, blah, blah...?

"It is absolutely deplorable to see Republican governors put their political ambitions above the well-being of their constituents, shirking their duty and desecrating the covenant between elected and voter, but it is becoming a far too common sight in America’s red states. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has literally put the health of his voters at risk, fiddling away as Rome burns in a desperate play for whatever shred of the already marginal evangelical vote.

Last month, Jindal defunded the two Planned Parenthood clinics in New Orleans over a self-righteous and trumped-up outrage over the edited video smear campaign. The consequences were swift: Jindal has allowed a rampant outbreak of syphilis to escalate into a “full blown epidemic” according to Dr. Stephanie Taylor, medical director of the State Office of Public Health. The New York Times reported that

“Louisiana ranks first among the states in cases of gonorrhea, second in chlamydia, and third in syphilis and H.I.V., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention…and is among a number of states counted as medically underserved: It has a large poor and unhealthy population, with high rates of unintended pregnancies, a shortage of health professionals and too few who will accept Medicaid, as Planned Parenthood does.”

The selective interpretation of reality on the part of Jindal is really mind-boggling. Neither of the Planned Parenthoods in New Orleans administer abortions; nor is federal funding used for abortions anyway. What they did do was administer “20,000 tests for sexually transmitted infections, as well as provide gynecological exams, contraceptive care, cancer screenings and other wellness services for nearly 10,000 mostly low-income patients.” By cutting off funding for one of the few healthcare providers that accept Medicaid, Jindal is exacerbating the STD problems that his state faces and puts his people’s lives at risk- all to try to save his irrelevant and rapidly imploding presidential campaign..."

And then there they are, the very same folks screaming for prison for any teen in any circumstance terminating, legally mind you, the unwanted pregnancy?

Only religion permits the human brain to justify such hypocrisy.

Not to further mention the faux war on PP -extremist Christian religion is again the elephant in the room - is now based entirely on a debunked lying serious of smear videos manufactured using dozens of video splices, by known GOP political operatives and liars.

Is related to kochleosis and other brain malfunctions, and it could be viral.

But why should Piyush care?

Well because NOLA is a major hub of tourism and capital influx to a very poor state, and is also a rapidly growing hub of STDs.

Let's see how the hotels and tourist venues welcome the reduction in convention business. Perhaps they can make up for it in some more sex trade, but that tends to have diminishing returns.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can cause long-term complications if not adequately treated.

http://www.cdc.gov/std/syphilis/stdfact-syphilis-detailed.htm

Common sexually transmitted bacterial organisms may affect the anorectum and perianal skin. While some of these infections are a result of contiguous spread from genital infection, most result from receptive anal intercourse. Polymicrobial infection is common and there is overlap in symptoms caused by the organisms that may infect the anorectum. This article addresses the most common bacterial organisms that are sexually transmitted and affect the anorectum. It includes discussions of gonorrhea, campylobacter, chlamydia, shigella, chancroid, granuloma inguinale, and syphilis. Incidence, mode of transmission, presenting signs and symptoms, diagnostic modalities, and treatment are reviewed.

Jindal is an ass clown and I could go on for days about my loathing for the attacks against planned parenthood but this is circular reasoning at best. There is a rising epidemic because people infected with a sexually transmitted disease are having unprotected sex. Yes, access to healthcare could potentially reduce new infections but it by no means addresses the behavior which leads to wide spread infections. This article intends to use a logical fallacy to effect change... that change being the continued funding and proliferation of planned parenthood. While I agree with the result, arguments like this leave holes for others to attack which shifts the discussion away from positive change.

A nicely dressed black businessman type came in for some service work on his CB. I remember since we did not see that many black "businessmen" around. But anyway we were talking while I was working and he was with the U.S. Health dept doing survey work in the area. You should have heard him curse the black people and the poor white people. If you were to listen to a recording, you would swear that he was a racist KKK member. But he wasn't racist, he just could not wrap his head around the thought process of guys and girls having multiple unprotected sex partners each night. He said most had no concept of disease or what was condom was supposed to do.
Around that time South Arkansas and North Louisiana had the highest unwed mother rate in the nation. I don't remember much more of what we talked about except he had no idea of how to reach the fucking rednecks in the area. He thought that maybe it would be best to let them get disease and just die off.

I remember as a kid watching Johnny Carson and he mentioned El Dorado, Arkansas as the town with the most private jets per capita and the most unwed mothers per capita. Go Team, my hometown was famous for something.

When people can go to Planned Parenthood, they can be exposed to warnings of the threat of sexually transmitted diseases and the preventative measures that they should take to protect against becoming infected along with getting the necessary protection. The attempt to shut down Planned Parenthood is both morally and economically a disaster.

But Planned Parenthood tries to address these problems, not merely treat the results. This is the forefront where these issues are first confronted and dealt with. Clinics don't just give these people a few shots an medicine an send them merrily on their way. And, I may be mistaken, these kind of communicable incidents get reported to the state's health department for further action. No one believes Planned Parenthood or any other clinic is going to eradicate these diseases, but they do SIGNIFICANTLY help reduce them. But notice a comment made about the lack of health centers. The bloggers on the right throw out these cavalier comments that there are plenty of alternative health care centers to replace Planned Parenthood. Actually that claim is unfounded. Despite the increase in community health centers, they can't keep up with the demand. Many don't want medicaid patients and there is a shortage of doctors. If you google these topics for your state, you will find dozens of articles addressing these issues by state. But from the comments these right wingers make, you would think there are clinics on every corner like ABC stores (Hawaii). Even if there were, so what. No one can tell you where you should go for your health care.
