She's not doing her job, so she gets fired. Simple. Seems like a better solution than putting her in jail. Is something preventing this?

(21,563 posts)seems kind of insane that if a government official is doing something worthy of impeachment, that nothing can be done about it for several months.

(14,570 posts)It gets pretty sticky trying to get an elected official out of office, even for egregious behavior.

(6,409 posts)As the others have explained, they can't fire an elected official. However, they might be able to get rid of her some other way. I don't know what the rules are in Kentucky, but they might be able to declare her incapacitated, or otherwise unable to perform her duties, and send her home on paid administrative leave. I'm sure they would be glad to have her out of sight, out of mind. Of course, the problem would surface again when she wins reelection, which I'm sure she will do in a landslide.

(6,409 posts)Board of supervisors, whatever they have there. Presumably, they have a personnel director, HR person, etc. who has the authority, when backed up by the county commissioners, to send a notice to Davis saying something like, "Your job performance has been unsatisfactory, you are creating a crisis in the work place, your actions are establishing hostile work environment, etc. and we are placing you on aid administrative leave pending further inquiry." It would work as long as the county commissioners agreed, although Davis would challenge it in court.

(94,513 posts)...anymore than some Government official has the right to tell a member of the Legislature that they're not doing their job by not passing a budget and having the Government shut down.

Actually what she needs is a visit from a new bureau of government I proposed in the past;
The "The Department of Are you out of your god damned mind?"
They would be empowered to walk in to any government office, department or law enforcement entity and loudly ask, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GOD DAMNED MIND?!?" and then have the authority to shut down the offensive (to rational minded people) policy or practice immediately and they would have the power of the subpoena and US Marshals to cuff egregious offenders on the spot.
Hi. I am from the Department of 'ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GOD DAMNED MIND?
Then all hell breaks loose and we are quickly rid of dipshits.
I think it could work. Better than the TSA, if nothing else.
