Another take on what's her name, the woman in jail in Kentucky

Yes, I know her name, but it's time to get her out of the news (after this post).

From the New York Times. Not a unique approach to the issue, but still absolutely spot on.

But my Brother in law and I are thinking about starting a business (handy man and lawn care type of thing) and we have discussed whether we will refuse to do the work for anyone we find objectionable. We discussed this because his neighbor is one seriously obnoxious asshole who quite simply doesn't like him. So Scott has said that he just won't go into the guys house.
My thinking is that I agree with him about this guy, except if he wants his grass mowed and/or some landscaping done, I'll do it as long as he pays me. But anyone else, be they straight, gay, green guy from Mars, or whatever, their money is all green and we'll take it.
That is why I cannot understand anyone refusing service to any group of people because of beliefs/lifestyle/race.
Yes, I know the County Clerk is an elected position, but to me that makes it worse because she is sworn to uphold the law and marriage between two people is the law. Incidentally, the "Just say no to everything" would be funny if it wasn't true.

And last time I checked "seriously obnoxious asshole" is not a protected class!

When I was in business, I had a few truly awful customers walk in. I finally simply refused to cater to their every wish, no matter how ridiculous. They finally went away, and things were much better.

...pediatric office, we hope they will threaten to take their business elsewhere. The pediatricians have had a few occasions over the years to tell families that we can no longer provide their care - usually people who are really, really rude to the staff, or who refuse to pay their bills. They are given 30 days notice, and a list of other pediatric offices in the area. No one is kicked out without warning.

Several years ago, I had a dad pissed off at me because I would not sign his daughter's school sports form. She had a heart arrhythmia heard on exam, confirmed by EKG, and needed to see cardiology. He said he wasn't going to take her, and accused me of trying to waste his money. Maybe he thought I was getting a cut of the referral charge - nope, doesn't work that way. I told him that I certainly could not force him to follow my recommendation, but I could not sign her form unless she was cleared by the specialist. He said, "I want it signed anyway." I told him it would not be signed by me. He pulled the, "Well, we just might have to go to a different office." They did. When we copied the girl's records, we made sure to highlight the abnorma findings because we were pretty sure he wouldn't say anything about what I had found.

If I had caved in to him and signed it, and she then dropped dead while playing her sport, we know whose ass he would have been coming for.

She's from Idaho and lives mostly out of state now, anyway. I think the main reason she comes back is to qualify for the PFD each year. She's a bloodsucking hater - we don't want her here any more than folks in the Lower 48 want her there!

RE: Kim Davis; ignorance is deplorable, isn't it? So many fundies lack basic intelligence and what little they do have is corrupted by their so-called religious leaders. Great 'toon - saved and printed!
