When I lived in Arizona it was a requirement to have AC but here in SF my place isn't even built for AC and last night my largest fan, went POOF when I plugged it in. I Have a small but somewhat powerful fan, and hoping it will keep me cool today! (And I have plenty of Vanilla ice cream!!!)

I work in south bay, but live mid-peninsula. Living in AZ would *really* suck (in terms of temperature).

But in the heat, ...stripping down helps..AC helps if you have it, or maybe a fan blowing...but its hard to cool down, even with that frozen glass of Ice Tea..sometimes its just too hot..I am all for getting naked in the shadows of your house!

or being in the pool if you have one!

Back then a temp like you're experiencing would have been unthinkable. Hope you're able to keep cool...we're expected to go to 92 today. I use AC and fans. I could really use more insulation in this place but no money for it. I'm comfortable....we never had AC for many years and sleeping used to be difficult on hot summer nights.

Nothing like Phoenix though....(I'm assuming)

Thanks for your posts!

a hobby I used to grow Alaverta cactus, ya know the kind that you can break open the leaves, and use the oil to sooth sunburn. Anyway there it used to be around 115 or so..not like the city here always under a blanket of fog in the summer time. Its in the Fall that the fog disappears and we have nice sunny days in the 70s.. I don't remember 90 degrees or higher in the city..

This has been by far the rainiest summer I have seen here over the past decade. Better than high 90's, but I think I am growing moss.

Around here people can't sprinkle their lawns due to a water shortage, so its not like there will be any place you can stand under a sprinkler...sad, really!

At least we can water our plants, animals and selves...no drought yet but things are turning brown. Heat and lack of our usual weekly rain make a difference.

One thing though!

We have watched three Monarch butterfly caterpillars from three different hatches munch a Milkweed plant to the ground this year...and saw several Monarchs this year. I let the Milkweed grow just for them and haven't seen a Monarch for a couple of years...it did my heart good to see them again.

And you, like so many of my other friends here, give me a run for my money.

They give me the rep, though we work as a team and only succeed by playing off each other. Not that I haven't gotten off some good or even great ones. But so do all of you here.

I am mortified that the rest of you don't get the recognition!
