The first Republican primary is months away, but in the race to see which GOP candidate could make the most of the legal battle over a Kentucky clerk's refusal to grant same-sex marriage licenses, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee emerged a winner Tuesday, thanks to the efforts of an aide to block 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) from joining Huckabee at Davis' side.
Both presidential candidates were present at the rally at the jail holding Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk. But according to a New York Times report of the day's events, a Huckabee aide physically stood in Cruz's path to Davis' side as she and Huckabee appeared in front of the media after her release from jail:
When Senator Cruz exited the jail a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of Mr. Cruz, who appeared incredulous.
Moments later, Mr. Huckabee appeared, joined by Ms. Davis. He stuck close to her side as she approached the reporters, and again when she took the stage, and cast her fight as a choice of tyranny or religious freedom..........................

(12,754 posts)A money shot is a moving or stationary visual element of a film, video, television broadcast, or print publication that is disproportionately expensive to produce and/or is perceived as essential to the overall importance or revenue-generating potential of the work.

(12,723 posts)Originally, in general film-making usage, the "money shot" was simply the scene that cost the most money to produce. In general, a money shot (also called a money-making shot) is a provocative, sensational, or memorable sequence in a film, on which the film's commercial performance is perceived to depend. The scene may or may not be a special-effects sequence, but may be counted on to become a selling point for the film.

(65,227 posts)from the media and from being surrounded by her RW handlers. And like Ann Coulter, who was a secret behind-the scenes advisor to Jones at first, Davis's handlers will ditch her and turn on her when it serves their purpose.
Coulter really did a job on Paula Jones, scuttling her generous settlement deal to make sure that it all came out and made a political mess for Clinton, and then later turned on her when, after her settlement deal was destroyed, Jones posed for Penthouse. Coulter even called Jones "trailer trash," after condemning CLinton supporters for slinging that ugly slur. This is from a Joe Conason piece on coulterwatch.com:
Had she settled the case in September 97, observes author Joe Conason, Jones would have had three times
as much money, we never would have heard of Monica Lewinsky, and it probably would have been much
better for her and her family. As it was, due to marital breakup, legal fees, back taxes, and a defense fund
fiasco, Jones thought the only way out of her family meltdown and financial chaos was to discreetly pose for
Penthouse.
Ironically, after abandoning Jones without ever offering her any post-impeachment aid Coulter
denounced her as trailer park trash, doing precisely what she had previously condemned Clinton
supporters for doing.
But conservative pundette Ann Coulter, one of the legal elves who assisted Jones, is pissed at
Jones. I totally believed she was the good Christian girl she made herself out to be, Coulter
says. I was doing this for her, not just to expose Clinton ... (but) now it turns out shes a fraud
at least to the extent of pretending to be an honorable and moral person.
Here is Paula Jones's response to Coulter's attack on her:
I havent been out doing anything and trying to make a lot of money. I havent been offered a
book deal like everybody else in this huge thing has done. Ann Coulters done books. I havent
seen her call me up and say: Paula, would you like for me to help you write a book, a really nice,
decent? I havent had any help from anybody whatsoever.
The whole piece is interesting and shows how truly vicious and exploitative Coulter is:

Kim Davis will be similarly dumped by her RW handlers when she no longer serves their purpose, and when that happens, the consequences of her actions will come down on her like a ton of bricks.

Paula Jones, the woman who sued President Bill Clinton for sexual harassment while he was governor of Arkansas, says Hillary Clinton is not fit to be president because of her husbands past behavior.
There is no way that she did not know what was going on, that women were being abused and accosted by her husband, Jones said in an interview with Daily Mail Online. They have both lied, she said.
Jones, now 48, sued Clinton in 1994, alleging that he propositioned her in an Arkansas hotel room while he was governor. The lawsuit preceded revelations about the presidents affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment and later acquittal.
She should not be running with the terrible history they have, Jones said, warning that the former president should not be allowed back in the White House.
Jones said that both Clintons would do anything to get to the top, adding that it is all about political status.
He does not have a right to be in the White House to serve the people the way he treated women, sexually harassing women, she said.
Clinton had denied having sexual relations with Lewinsky in his deposition for the Jones lawsuit. Clinton denied Jones claims as well, though he paid $850,000 to her and her attorneys in an out-of-court settlement in November 1998. The lawsuit was dismissed pre-trial in a summary judgment after it was ruled that Jones did not prove damages.

(63,221 posts)to the effect of "well, people like Kim Davis are pretty mainstream in the US." I was absolutely horrified. Is this what other countries really think? That we are all like this? I know it was just one commenter, but I get the impression that most foreigners think we are a bunch of right-wing, fundamentalist christian idiots. Then again, look at who we elect to office. Never mind.

(3,622 posts)...in the sense that this was the whole point of the previous five minutes of in-out-in-out, which taken out of context is a lot more ridiculous than sexy. Several places labelled the video frame where the second airliner hit the WTC tower on film the "money shot" of 911 coverage. It's a derogatory term implying that there is no other meaning to be found in the whole enterprise.

(15,374 posts)I and a friend discussed this whole rally a couple of days ago and agreed that even more than caring about the issue, Mike was probably dancing around his house, air-guitaring to Cat Scratch Fever, overjoyed about the possibility of taking some media time away from Trump and breathing some life into his anemic campaign. This was Mike's ball - no other divas allowed on stage.
I'm surprised that Jindal didn't also try to crash it cuz I'm betting he's kicking himself for letting Huckabee grab this as he could have had a hat trick - fought against marriage equality as governor (backed down but still), defunded Planned Parenthood, and this. It would have really impressed those religious conservatives who aren't going to vote for him anyway because he's too dark.

This horrible woman will have to go back to jail as soon as she refuses to do her on job and I hear thats on friday. These idiots are also protesting in front of the Judges house. He is a Federal
Judge. Not an ordinary garden variety judge. You do not mess with Federal judges. They are guarded by US Marshals. And you do not want to fuck with the US Marshals.
You can get all uppity with the park rangers, or this dept or that or the sheriffs or the local whatevers. But you dont mess with federal courts and federal court justices.
This is about to go very bad for Lori and whomever else cares to cross the line again.
Eventually , we will read the sad tale of her poverty as she lost her 80,000 dollar job and everyone abandoned her and she got sued and now she lives in a house trailer alone since her husband left her for another woman who has a job.
