There were a record 5.75 million job openings in July. This vindicates President Obama's economic policies and shows that other employment data like the unemployment rate which continues to trend down accurately reflects the employment picture. It's now a job seeker's market. Thank you President Obama.

(24,689 posts)There is some partial truth to that but clearly things are improving. My wife who is an engineer has noticed a significant uptick in engineering related job openings in the past several weeks.

(32,886 posts)The openings came in varied fields, from well paid professional and business services slots to lesser-paid ones in accommodation and food services and the retail trade. The Northeast and the South saw the largest rise.
The data in absolute terms, and relative to the level of unemployment and the population now signal unambiguously that the labor market is unable to supply the people companies need. Usually, that means wages will accelerate...

Seriously, that will be the line that the business community will push. Because they do not under any circumstances believe that perhaps they should offer a better salary. Or maybe invest in their work force by training them.
