JEB RELEASES TAX REFORM PLAN
Jeb Bush explains plan to cut taxes on wealthy in WSJ oped:
We will cut individual rates from seven brackets to three: 28%, 25% and 10%
[It] expands the Earned Income Tax Credit, ends the death tax
and ends the employees share of the Social Security tax on earnings for workers older than 67
I will cut the corporate tax rate from 35%the highest in the industrial worldto 20%
we will assess a one-time tax of 8.75%, payable over 10 years, on the more than $2 trillion in corporate profits sitting overseas
we will eliminate most corporate tax deductions

Here was a Republican candidate telling voters he would not cut Social Security that fast economic growth would remove the need to even talk about it and that hedge-fund guys needed to pay higher taxes. And he was winning.

(27,315 posts)Trump is popular because he is a know-nothing nativist. He has presented no economic/tax program and some populist icons think that because he utters a few key sentences, he is somehow on their side on the issue.
As for Krugman, he is unfortunately once again showing he is just an opportunist. If he seriously think Trump's plan will be different than Bush, he is an idiot.
