LINCOLN — State Auditor Charlie Janssen is seeking a formal opinion about whether owning a business that contracts with the state conflicts with his elected position.

He made the request to the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission in a Friday letter.

In the letter, Janssen asked the commission if his position as president and CEO of RTG Medical creates a legal conflict with his duties as state auditor and, if it does, how he should address the concerns.

He said he was making the request “to ensure both statutory compliance and complete transparency.”
