GRAND ISLAND, Neb. Kari Anthony, a bartender at Quaker Steak and Lube in Grand Island, got a huge surprise last Thursday that allowed the single mother to take her three children to the Nebraska State Fair and catch up on her bills.
A truck driver, who had finished his run and was enjoying dinner and drinks, paid his bill of $89.72, and then tipped Anthony $1,000.
Anthony, a Grand Island resident who has been employed at Quaker Steak and Lube for several weeks, was working the evening shift at the time. She said the man who left the tip was seated at the bar when she started work.
He was paying as he went, and I let him know that he didnt have to cash out every single time, and if he wanted he could put everything on a tab and cash him out at the end, Anthony said.
