[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]I know a quite elderly lady (with all her faculties and not stupid) who thinks he's just wonderful.

It's simply impossible for me to understand.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]This one old woman considers herself a Lady, quite prim and proper, and Trump is so utterly insulting and condescending to women.

No matter how I try to understand, it. does. not. compute.

2. If Trump somehow becomes President of this country he will no doubt abuse the power of his office.

He wont be able to tolerate the checks and balances of our three arms of government. Executive Orders wont be good enough for him either. He will simply dictate what he wants. If someone doesnt obey he will call on the military to force his rule of law. Trump will become America's first true dictator. Its a scary scenario.

Salon has become clickbait central, and this shallow, hackneyed op-ed could be used as exhibit #1.

6. You don't the the GOP has purposely emasculated the public (men)

and then gives them the antidote to their anger in their GOP politicians and agenda? That's how psychopaths roll. Too bad for the GOP Trump fits the bill better than Jeb! I think it is apt that the author highlights male 'grievances'. Just like with teens being influenced by ISIS to fly to Syria and join, the GOP highlights a grievance (it helped create) and offers an aspirational solution. Trumps just outdone the GOP.

7. No, I don't. How exactly does the GOP 'emasculate' men???

That claim is downright bizarre. They don't define masculinity. In fact, masculinity - as far as social science goes - has a fairly well defined parameters, not just anatomically, but psychologically, and from the perspective of the nuclear family unit.

No, this op-ed is clickbait, because as we here on DU know full well, gender controversies generate SO much heat and light, but NO resolutions, EVER.

south because they need it as a wedge. Being a racist diminishes one's life a great deal as scapegoating others is a sure way to avoid being a self-actualized adult. When you are self actualized your aspirations match your situation and you feel you have power. Men have less power in many ways but some of those ways have been helped along a great deal by the GOP.

9. In no culture is material wealth a masculinity enhancer.

In fact, in the US, possession of material wealth is sometimes ITSELF viewed as emasculating.

Wealth may buy prostitutes and 'friends', but it most definitely doesn't buy one masculinity.

I don't know, perhaps we need to ATD.

12. Fear of a female president?
Fri Sep 11, 2015, 01:36 AM
Sep 2015

Is that why the far-right supported Sarah Palin?

They fear Hillary as they would fear Bernie or Joe. But they fear these candidates because they are DEMOCRATS! They are the enemy to them.

If the GOP fears a female president, that means they would vote for Bernie Sanders over Carly Fiorina. Would you honestly see that happening?
